Karolina Kusz

Karolina graduated in law from Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin.

She also studied at the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium, an experience that gave her a solid grounding in legal English, in which she is now fluent. She completed her advocate training under the Lublin Regional Bar Association, culminating in her entry to the advocate list in 2015. During her time at the university and while pursuing post-graduate education, she developed a particularly keen interest for broadly defined economic law. This formed her professional path, leading her to become a legal adviser specialising in the field.

She has gained her professional experience while working at law firms in Lublin and Warsaw, as well as in central government administration institutions (Office of Rail Transport) and State Treasury companies. Having worked for several years at the Polish railway regulatory authority – which involved, most notably, independent handling of interoperability-related administrative procedures, among other tasks – gave her a broad perspective on the functioning of regulated markets in the context of the ever-changing legal frameworks, both Polish and European.

Practising as a lawyer, Karolina has been involved not only in law-application processes, but also in legislative processes at the Government Legislation Centre.

Currently, specialising at the interface of public and private law, she feels most confident providing ongoing advisory services for organisations operating within this sphere. As a competent speaker of foreign languages that has participated in many international meetings and projects (e.g. as part of cooperation with the European Commission), she is comfortable working in an international environment.

In her free time, Karolina is an avid mountain hiker. The higher the mountains, the better. With a preference for uncrowded places, she is a frequent visitor to the Tatra mountains in winter.
